This backstage documentary promises an equally 'intimate' glimpse at another global superstar Jennifer Lopez, striding down a Netflix runway already well-trodden by the likes of Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish (they're all at it).

A more empathetic and "real" (although expertly manicured and highly authorized) side of this multi-hyphenate glamazon than you've probably ever seen is revealed in Halftime, which actually delivers on that intimacy.

Halftime, which premieres in 2019, is organized around two crucial halfway events: Lopez's 50th birthday and the Super Bowl, sometimes known as "the biggest stage in entertainment" (at least in the US), as well as her award-tour appearances for Hustlers and her Oscar-nominated performance (she played a stripper).

The NFL's prejudiced inference that just one Latina singer isn't enough to carry the show forces Lopez, who had previously said, "I'm not into politics," to speak out when she is scheduled to play at the famed half-time spot alongside Shakira.

"We're fighting to be heard, to be seen, to be taken seriously. "The world is now paying attention to me." What will I say next? Let's face it: J-opinions Lo's on US immigration policy won't get us all to stream Halftime. , as she is aware.

There isn't much in the way of romantic rumors (Lopez has obviously had enough of being defined by the men in her life), but what we do get is some private family time with her twins, some never-before-seen early home archive, entertaining (if disorienting) flashbacks, fierce dancing, and some tearful straight-to-camera confession about how painful it was to be the target of so much relentless media negativity about her (and it's shocking how racist those Nough

She acknowledges, "It was hard when people treat you like a joke." And you genuinely think it hurt. Lopez comes across as more human during halftime than she ever did while singing "I'm Still Jenny from the Block."
